The Bengali Calendar
The Bengali calendar is a solar calendar which takes into account the seasons. The months of the Bengali calendar and their approximate equivalents in the Gregorian calendar are as follows:
- Vaeshákha – mid April to mid May
- Jyaeśt́ha – mid May to mid June
- Áśáŕha – mid June to mid July
- Shrávańa – mid July to mid August
- Bhádra – mid August to mid September
- Áshvina – mid September to mid October
- Kárttika – mid October to mid November
- Agraháyańa – mid November to mid December
- Paośa – mid December to mid January
- Mágha – mid January to mid February
- Phálguna – mid February to mid March
- Caetra – mid March to mid April
Detailed research needs to be done to make all calendars more accurate. This will make farming more scientific and increase productivity.
