Appendix: Maháprayáńa Divasa
1991, Kolkata

The Reverend Márga Gurudeva, in the holy name and form of Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrtijii, has been a beacon light to Ananda Margis and spiritual seekers. Through His lofty ideology and spiritual cult, He paved the way for the all-round emancipation of humanity. Obviously the Maháprayáńa Divasa, that is, 21st October, should be observed with utmost reverence and dignity by all AMPS units and Ananda Margis.

Programmes on this day shall include nagar kiirtana, devotional songs of Prabhát Saḿgiita (without dance) appropriate to the solemnity of the occasion, akhańd́a kiirtana, shraddháiṋjali, vánii exhibition, bookstall, tree-planting, sadávrata, other welfare activities, prasáda distribution, Bábá stories (satsauṋga), tattvasabhá, conferences and symposia.(1)

A programme of akhańd́a kiirtana may be arranged from October 21st till 3:30 p.m. on October 26th (the date of the cremation).

(1) The above appendix on Maháprayáńa Divasa - 21st October 1990 - the Day Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrti Left His Mortal Frame - was discussed and passed as a resolution on 25th August 1991 unanimously by all members of the Central Committee of Ánanda Márga Pracáraka Saḿgha, and it was decided that this (resolution) should be added as an appendix to Caryácarya Part 1. (CC Resolution, 25/8/1991, Calcutta.) –Trans.

(2) Nagar kiirtana is kiirtana through the streets of the town. Akhańd́a kiirtana is continuous kiirtana. Shraddháiṋjali means “respectful offering”. Váńiis were inspirational “messages” given twice yearly by Shrii Shrii Ánandamúrti. Prasáda is food that has been vibrated either by Márga Gurudeva or by kiirtana. –Trans.
